During a time of limited opportunities for women, Vera Barclay played a leading role in developing the Scouts movement. She also found time to write over 40 books, saved lives as a red cross nurse and became a champion tobogganist!

Along with the Scouts creative team, we produced a film to celebrate the pioneer’s life and accomplishments.

The 2D animation was created in two and a half weeks in time for International Women's Day 2019 and is soundtracked by an original score, also created by Young.

“As more and more girls join the Scouts, we wanted to celebrate International Women’s Day by shining a spotlight on a woman who was vital to our movement from the beginning. Young have helped us do that with their fun and incredibly imaginative approach to animation - they’re always a pleasure to collaborate with, and their work always impresses. With their help, we hope to inspire women and girls in the Scouts to achieve whatever they put their minds to.”
